Sasaki double at Aston Martin Asia Cup
SEPANG: Super GT driver Kota Sasaki completed a double victory in the Aston Martin Asia Cup, a support race for the Super GT International Series Malaysia, when he scored another comfortable win at the Sepang Circuit yesterday.
Unmatched in Round 3 on Saturday, Sasaki, who drives for Team Cusco Racing in the GT300 category, again led from start to finish to win Round 4 of the 12- ound series, which is making its debut this year.
Sasaki took 23 minutes 50.896 seconds to complete the 15-lap race, with Australian Dean Grant, who finished fourth on Saturday, coming in second with 23:55.373s.
Another Australian, Mark Eddy, completes the podium, emulating his third place finish Saturday with a time of 23:56.529s.
Winner of the opening two rounds at Shanghai International Circuit, Sri Lankan Dilantha Malagamuwa, completed a miserable weekend at Sepang by finishing sixth in yesterday’s race. The two-time Malaysian Super Series champion was second on Saturday.
Dilantha, however, would have an opportunity to take his revenge at the Sepang Circuit when Round 5 and 6 resumed from July 11 to 13 around the North Track, which Dilantha would be very familiar with.
