Return subsidised diesel allocation: Fishing boat owners
KOTA KINABALU: Amid the current high oil prices, an association yesterday came out to express their grouses in the hope that the government will tune in to their problems.
Kota Kinabalu Fishing Boat Owners Association called on the government to return to them the full 2.8 million litre allocation for subsidised diesel for KK zone’s fishing operations, which they claimed was cut 10 per cent since the oil price hike in early June.
“This cut was not announced but we were informed about it through a letter. This cut is burdening on top of the personal cut using the e-Nelayan Kad (card for members to claim subsidised diesel allocation).
“We hope the government will give back the 10 per cent to us,” its chairman Simon Hong told reporters during a press conference here.
