ROC returned documents to me, says witness
KOTA KINABALU: A former company secretary told the Sessions Court here yesterday that documents in relation with the appointment of former Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Director (CCID) Datuk Ramli Yusoff as a director of Kingsajaya Sdn Bhd were returned to her by the Registrar of Companies (ROC) as they were not supporting documents.
Mahinder Kaur A/P Teja Singh said that as far as she could remember, the documents were initially lodged to the ROC on May 9, 2006.
“They (documents) were all returned to me as the ROC requested a supporting document from Datuk Ramli’s employer with regards to his appointment as a director,” Mahinder told Judge Supang Lian during cross-examination by Ramli’s leading counsel Datuk Mohammad Shafee Abdullah on the third day of the trial.
Ramli, 56, who is a former Sabah Police Commissioner, was charged with using his position to order the use of a Royal Malaysian Police Cessna Carvan CE 208-9M-PSQ aircraft to take him and two others, Datuk Muhamad Yassin and Khalid Mohamad, for an aerial survey of two plots of land in Ulu Tungku, Lahad Datu in which Kinsajaya Sdn Bhd had interest and he is alleged to hold a stake in the company.
He is accused of committing the offence at 7.50am on June 15 last year at the Police Air Wing Unit in Tanjung Aru here.
The charge under Section 15 (1) of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1997, punishable under Section 16 of the same Act, carries a mandatory jail term of between 14 days and 20 years and a minimum fine of RM10,000. The accused is currently released on RM10,000 bail fully deposited under one local surety.
Shafee was assisted by Counsels James Tsai and Dr Lim Hock Leng while Deputy Public Prosecutors Kevin Morais and Joyce Blasius prosecuted the case.
