MIRI: Celcom Mobile Sdn Bhd is committed to invest RM200 million in the 4G LTE infrastructure development in East Malaysia for this year.
This was disclosed by its director Choo Meng Chung when interviewed after the official opening ceremony of Celcom Xclusive service centre at Permaisuri Imperial City Mall here yesterday.
He pointed out that being the leader in mobile telecommunication technology, Celcom is striving to improve its Internet broadband coverage especially in the regions of East Malaysia which covers Sarawak and Sabah to ensure its subscribers have the fastest mobile broadband technology.
“We are committed in improving our mobile technology infrastructure so that our customers would have access to the latest 4G LTE broadband technology,” he said.
As for Sarawak alone, he noted that more than 100 4G LTE sites have been set up and this latest 4G broadband technology has been deployed and is fully operational in Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri.
In Miri, Celcom has deployed of 24 4G LTE sites and a total 41 sites will be set up by the end of this year, disclosed Choo.
In his address, guest of honour Miri Mayor Lawrence Lai complemented Celcom’s efforts to improved the mobile broadband technology in the city.
He said many, including university and college students, would benefit from this fast broadband technology as Miri transforms into a digital city.
Being a significant upgrade from the current 3G technology, the 4G LTE is ten times faster, with data intensive application like video streaming, a breeze.
Also present were Celcom regional sales manager Doris Ting, head of Celcom Xperience for Sabah and Sarawak Lee Jui Chee, head of territory Jayden Yap and territory manager Asmah Mohd Yusof.
Owned and managed by ARM Century (M) Sdn Bhd, Celcom Xclusive service centre at Permaisuri Imperial City Mall is currently largest Celcom service centre in Sarawak which provides full range of Celcom telecommunication products and services.
