Two additional coaches for KTM intercity services this CNY *new!
Loading ...KUALA LUMPUR: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will provide two additional coaches for each Intercity service for the expected increase in passengers this Chinese New Year.
KTM Intercity Services general manager Mohd Zain Mat Taha said the additional coaches would make way for last-minute passengers with an extra 120 seats available.
“Ticket bookings were open since December last year and in several locations 100 per cent of the tickets were sold, especially for Intercity services to the south,” he said after presenting gift packs to KTMB passengers at the KL Sentral station Friday.
Mohd Zain said besides the Intercity service, KTMB also had special trains for the Electric Train Service (ETS) for journeys to and from Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh, which operate round the clock starting today until Feb 10.
He said 12 ETS train services are provided daily and will be increased by six services this festive season operating at 1am, 2am and 4am from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh and vice-versa.
A total of 166,984 tickets were allocated for all KTMB services for journeys starting Feb 5 to 18, with 87,775 sold so far. –Bernama
