Appointment of contract staff to permanent post depends on scheme – PSC *new!
PUTRAJAYA: Public Services Commission (PSC) chairman Tan Sri Mahmood Adam said the appointment of contract officers to permanent posts depends on their respective contract schemes which differed according to post.
He said among those taken into consideration was contract for service, which is appointment according to expertise and not scheme, or contract of service which had its own service scheme.
“Besides that, there are contracts that depend on the season or project, some are paid daily, or contracts for three months. The nature is not the same,” he told reporters after an interaction session with Community Development Department (Kemas) contract officers here Friday.
Previously, Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (CUEPACS) president Datuk Omar Osman said contract civil servants who had worked for a long time should be absorbed to a permanent post without the need for a study to be conducted.
The statement was made after the PSC recently formed a Committee to Study the Problems of Contract Officers in efforts to find a solution for various problems linked to their service. –Bernama
