SUSPICIOUS ITEMS: Some of the items seized during the first raid.
SIBU: The police here believe they will be able to solve a string of thefts including housebreaking and car stealing after they arrested three men whom they described as habitual thieves.
In an operation led by ASP Yeoh Chun Shyang, a team of personnel from the Crime Investigation Department
(CID) and Intelligence Unit stormed into two houses in Madu Road where they apprehended the three men and seized from them a stolen car, tools for crime commissions and valuables.
Two of them will be sent for a urine test as they are suspected to be drug addicts.
In the first raid at a house at 12.15pm, the team arrested a 44-year-old man and seized from his bedroom 33 bottles of car engine lubricant, a grass cutter, a DVD player, home decorative items made of bronze, two three-foot-long samurai swords, numerous car number plates, parangs, other home decorative items and others.
They also seized apparatus for drug abuse in his car.
Half an hour later, the team proceeded to another house along the same road and arrested two men.
They seized a car which they later confirmed to have been reported stolen a week ago in Camar Road.
The three will be remanded to help police in their probe on a string of thefts.
