Driver cheats death in crash that ripped off car roof
ROOFLESS: What’s left of the BMW in the drain.
KUCHING: A young man had a brush with death when the BMW he was driving nosedived into the drain outside Sg Maong Police Station early yesterday morning.
The 22-year-old was believed to be on the way to Third Mile when his car went out of control at 4am.
It hit the road divider then a lamp post before landing in the drain.
The impact ripped off its roof.
Fire and Rescue Department personnel rushed to the scene to extract the scratched and bruised victim from the car.
In a separate incident, a 44-year-old man from Jalan Astana was admitted into the Red Zone of Sarawak General Hospital after experiencing an almost similar situation at Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg.
In the 3.11am accident, the victim hit a road barrier before crashing into a lamp post.
Two medical officers who happened to pass by called an ambulance.
