Thieves break into five business premises

KUCHING: Five business enterprises suffered substantial losses after thieves broke into their premises at a commercial shoplot in Mile 3 here yesterday.The affected businesses consisted of a granite and marble processing shop, a hair salon, a curtain specialty shop, an accounting firm and an event management company.

They were located on the ground, first and second floors of a commercial shoplot at Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce not far away from the Sungai Maong police station.

The multiple break-ins were discovered nearly simultaneously when the respective owners arrived around 9am to open their premises.

Among the items reported stolen from each premises were desktop computers, laptops, a digital camera, DVD players, audio systems, hair care products, scissors and hair dryers.

One of the affected owners, who declined to be identified, lamented the fact that his shop had fallen victim to thieves despite being located near a police station.

Police are investigating the breakins.
