PETALING JAYA: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Senator Datuk Seri Idris Jala yesterday urged the public to give feedback on the six National Key Result Areas (NKRAs) to ensure the success of the Government Transformation Programme (GTP).“We want you (public) to give feedback so that in whatever areas we make errors we can make corrections,” Idris, who is also the chief executive officer of the Performance and Implementation Management Unit (Pemandu,) said in his presentation of the NKRAs at the GTP open day at the Sunway Convention Centre, here.
The GTP open day, which was launched by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Koh Tsu Koon, started Thursday and ended yesterday.
“We know you have lots of good ideas to share with us on the six NKRAs,” said Idris.
He said once feedback from public was collected, then it would be studied by the NKRA teams before the roadmap for the transformation would be published.
Under the NKRAs, he said the government aimed to improve rural basic infrastructure, urban transportation, improve education level, reducing corruption, crime and poverty in Malaysia.
In order to succeed, he said the government had taken a comprehensive approach to achieve the transformation.
Idris said among the steps taken were establishing in detail what needed to be done, share this with the people and seek their feedback, tell them what the government was going to do and finally what had been delivered.
“The GTP is a vehicle to lead us to vision 2020. Fundamental changes are important in order to achieve Vision 2020,” he said.
Some 1,000 people attended the GTP open day as of yesterday morning, including members of the public, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), private sector, civil servants and bloggers.
More were expected as yesterday was a public holiday.
A 3,000 turnout was anticipated yesterday.
On Thursday, some 2,000 people took part in the open day. — Bernama
