Sarawakians wanted for ‘Miss Yun Kong Bosch 2010’

KUCHING: The ‘Miss Yung Kong Bosch 2010’ organised by Yung Kong is calling for Sarawakian women aged between 16 and 28 (born between 1981 and 1993) to sign up.

The pageant aims to promote Yun Kong’s modern hardware store and products.

Due to public requests for the minimum age to be lowered, the organisers have decided to allow those as young as 16 to participate.

According to a press release, there is no minimum height requirement and no need to wear swimsuits or formal dresses.

Participants will instead be wearing singlets and hotpants throughout the pageant.

There is no entry fee and free basic make-up, hair styling and professional photography will be done by Hollywood Bridal Studio.

All participants will also receive a 4R photo, a beauty pageant singlet, an umbrella and a 2010 calendar or equivalent as souvenirs upon submission of their entries.

The closing date for submission is Dec 19.

The preliminary rounds and interviews for the contest will be held at the end of this month.

The semifinals will be held at Damai Puri Resort and Spa on Jan 17, 2010, and grand finals held at the Yung Kong hardware store located at Mile 4 1/2, Jalan Penrissen on Jan 24, 2010.

“If you have the look and charm, please join us for a good cause and at the same time create history. Experience is not necessary as we will teach you to catwalk, make-up and beauty grooming, once you enter the semifinals,” said Yung Kong Trading general manager Henry Hii.

The winner of the ‘Miss Yung Kong Bosch 2010’ will receive RM3,000 and gifts worth RM3,000; the first runner-up RM2,000 and gifts worth RM2,000; and the second runner-up RM1,000 and gifts worth RM1,000.

Finalists who do not win any prizes will still receive gifts worth RM150.

In conjunction with the beauty pageant; the organiser will also hold a photography contest for the public at Damai Puri Resort and Spa on Jan 17, where the subjects will be the pageant finalists.

All professional and amateur photographers are welcome to the photo-shoot.

The first prize is RM500 and gifts worth RM500; second prize RM300 and gifts worth RM300; while the third prize is RM200 and gifts worth RM200.

All photography contest participants will also receive a free umbrella and 2010 calendar each as souvenirs upon submission of their photos.

Meanwhile, the ‘Miss Photogenic’ subsidiary title will be based on the photos of finalists taken during the photography contest.

The winner of the Miss Photogenic title will receive RM500 and gifts worth RM500; while the second and third prize are RM300 and gifts worth RM300 as well as RM200 and gifts worth RM200 respectively.
