KUCHING: TC Motors (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd (TC Motors) has set a monthly sales target of 20 units of Nissan Navara in the state.Its deputy general manager Goh Yong Chai said he was confident the sales of the Nissan pick-up variant will be boosted by the introduction of its new six-speed manual transmission model.

“Nissan Navaras still generate a lot of interest. This new model for example attracted customers even before its launching,” he said.

Goh was met by reporters after the launching of this new model by Deputy Minister of Works Datuk Yong Khoon Seng at TC Motors premises at Jalan Tun Jugah here.

Three customers who purchased this new model before the launch were also rewarded with hampers during the function.

According to Goh, the number of Navaras coming into Malaysia is currently limited to 300 units every month. Navara also recently won the Asean Autocar of the Year award.

He added that Sabah recorded a bigger number of Navaras being sold than Sarawak.

“There are more Navara customers in Sabah, doubling the figure in this state,” he said of the demand in neighbouring Sabah.

He was also happy to note that Nissan is one of the few brands in Malaysia that had managed to generate a positive growth in motor vehicle sales this year.

“We are doing well despite the current economic slowdown…This shows that people have confidence in Nissan motor vehicles,” he said.

Meanwhile, the on-the-road prices for the new Navara model in Kuching is between RM90,800 to RM95,000 for individuals and RM90,052 to RM95,957 for companies.

Customers can also opt for additional accessories for their Navara. Described as the most powerful and biggest double cabin ‘mother trucker’ in Malaysia, this new Navara model is powered by 2.5 litres four-cyliner DOHC 16-valve common rail direct injection diesel engine.

They are available in body colours of supreme black, tungsten silver, twilight gray and brilliant white.
