WATCHING Bugaboo sales project manager Robert Cohen de Lara lock, unlock, fold and tuck a children’s pushchair under his arm without breaking a sweat is like watching a clown pull out a balloon, pump it up and twist it into a replica of the Eiffel Tower.
Bugaboo means endless, no barriers and pushing the limits.

In the mid-90s, creators Max Barenburg and Eduard Zanen designed a stroller practical for every parent.
This year, the massively successful Bugaboo stroller manufacturing company is celebrating its 10th anniversary since the first Bugaboo was officially launched in Holland in 1999.
Following the successful launch, the innovatively designed stroller has grown in popularity in Europe, Asia and North America.
“While most baby pushchairs are designed specifically for distinct age groups,” explained Richard Jongsma, president of Bugaboo Asia, “the sporty Bugaboo Cameleon pushchair is an engineering marvel designed to suit the needs of both parent and child in whatever kind of situation and for whatever age.”
The Bugaboo brand prides itself on durability, functionality and above all, versatility.
The most versatile Bugaboo pushchair — the Bugaboo Cameleon — won the Reddot Design Award in the categories of leisure, sports, wellness and caravanning in 2007.
The success of this stroller lies in the fact that the creators understand infants grow into toddlers. With this in mind, the sleek Cameleon chassis is like a blank canvas for whatever clip-on essentials and accessories parents may need.
Whether it’s a carrycot for a newborn infant, a base seat for toddlers or even a car-seat, the adapters also allow for various car seats outside of the Bugaboo brand to click onto the Bugaboo Cameleon chassis.
The unique 3-in-1 design adapts to car seats and has a reversible carrycot and seat, so you always have the right pushchair with you. The reversible seat also allows your child to face you for comfort or look out onto the world when you go sightseeing.
“The base seat also reclines to three positions — upright, reclining or flat out — so that your child can doze or lie back to do some stargazing,” Lara said.
Besides the adaptable chassis, the Cameleon is touted as the definition of mobile comfort.
“The handlebar is height-adjustable,” he added, “and this makes for a more comfortable, hunch-free ride no matter what height you happen to be.”
With two sets of different-sized wheels, moreover, the swivel- wheel suspension makes it easy to manoeuvre with one hand and also ensures a smooth ride over any kind of terrain.
“If you’re going for a walk in the woods or a park, you can reverse the handlebar so that the big wheels go in front,” Lara explained as he made another adjustment and pushed the handlebar to the other side.
“The big wheels then make it easy to go over bumpy ground like tree roots or ridges in the ground, reducing the bumps and bouncing that would naturally come from walking through rough terrain.”
According to him, for a trip through the city or park, adjust the handlebar again to put the small swivel wheels forward. This makes it easy for one-handed 360-degree turns. The frog-like suspension then cuts down the impact of going over potholes or city curbs.
Lara then bent to make a final adjustment, folding the four-wheel pushchair into a two-wheel position.
Fastening a wrist-band that connects his wrist to the handlebar (in case you lost your grip), the two-wheel innovation makes it possible for parents to take their child up and down the beach with little fuss.
The Cameleon is available in a wide-range of colours. Mix-and-match to blend in or stand out with the product’s full range of colours and fabric options.
Made of 600 denier colour-blends, the fabric is strong, durable and colourfast. While there are six Bugaboo colour bases to choose from (denim, red, sand, dark grey, dark blue, dark brown and orange), the canvas tailored fabric set includes a sun canopy, seat cover and carrycot apron in nine different colours.
