Report to Tabung Haji if charged extra, pilgrims told

MECCA: Malaysian haj pilgrims using packages by private companies have been urged to report to Tabung Haji if they are asked to make additional payments.Tabung Haji haj operation director Mat Admara Alang Azizdin said private companies licensed to operate haj packages were not allowed to collect additional payments from pilgrims in the holy land.

“The payments charged must be according to the price of packages offered in the brochures issued by Tabung Haji,” he told reporters here yesterday.

Mat Admara said firm action would be taken against companies found to have collected additional payments including suspending the licences and barring them from operating during the next haj season.

He said pilgrims could also report if the companies failed to offer lodging and food as that stated in the brochures.

Private companies offer several packages to pilgrims ranging from the normal RM18,000 to RM25,000 per package to RM100,000 for special packages. — Bernama
