KUCHING: The Sarawak Taekwondo State Open Championships was held here to select a team of 10 exponents for National Championships in Penang in December.

According to ITF Sarawak planning officer, Sim Heng Tak, ITF Sarawak did well in the national competition held in Kedah on June 26 and 27, winning the overall champions title with a total haul of eight gold, one silver and four bronze medals.

He said the competition was used to pick potential athletes to represent the state in national and future Asian and international championships.
