KANOWIT: Assistant Minister of Rural Development Datuk Gramong Juna calls on the council staff here to come up with new approaches and ideas to improve their delivery system.

He said following routine was one thing but meeting the expectation of the people was a different thing all together.
“The people’s expectations are becoming more complex by the day, and sometimes unrealistically high.”
Speaking when officiating at the inter district councils sports carnival at the Sports Complex here yesterday, Gramong said the council played an important role in the state’s administration, and was in a unique position being closest to the people at grassroots level.
About 200 council staff from six district councils in Zone 2 (Meradong/Julau, Kapit, Matu/Daro, Kanowit, Dalat/Mukah, and Sibu Rural District Council) are competing in the three-day carnival starting July 2.
They competed in six events namely futsal, football, volleyball, badminton, dart and table tennis.
Kanowit District Officer Bobbie Yamoh said the carnival was meant to foster goodwill among the councils and their staff.
Also present at the function was Gramong’s wife, Datin Catherine.
