MP speaks highly of assemblyman’s attitude of not giving in to detractors
MIRI: He had been called ‘YB Bula’ (a lying people’s representative), but it never weakened Aidan Wing’s spirit of working for the people to develop his constituency of Lambir.
“He never felt frustrated by what people think about him, that’s Aidan Wing whom I know…a fighter,” said Ahmad Lai Bujang.
Ahmad Lai said despite this negative label, Aidan never gave up but continued giving his best to serve the people.
“Without doubt, Lambir has developed so much ever since Aidan becomes the YB of the area,” said Ahmad Lai, adding that before Aidan came to the scene Lambir lacked many basic amenities.
“When Aidan was first elected, Lambir at that time encompassed Bekenu and Niah with no proper road connectivity, no clean water supply and no electricity,” said Ahmad Lai, adding Aidan had to work very hard to change the development landscape of the constituency to what it is today.
“Now you can see for yourselves how much Lambir has changed.
“If we were to accumulate his (Aidan) air tickets flying to Miri to visit Lambir, we would probably pack three gunnies full of them,” said Ahmad Lai at a leader-meet-the people session held by Sarawak Special Affairs Department (JASA) at Rumah Johnson Janggu, Seloi Tengah, Sibuti recently.
Aidan was there, so too Miri District Officer Boniface Intang Apat and JASA officer Lukanisman Awang Saudi.
“He is a good example of an elected representative who deserves to be elected. Honestly, I am learning from him,” Ahmad Lai said.
Ahmad Lai advised the people not to hesitate to discuss with their elected representatives if they had problems of common interest.
He also called for patience when it came to implementation of projects, saying the government had to take many factors into consideration when working on priorities.
