SARIKEI: A motorcyclist was killed in an accident that involved three vehicles at the Jalan Sungai-Jalan Tanjung Genting/Paradom Road junction Thursday night.

Deputy Meradong police chief Inspector Kisam Wa told The Borneo Post yesterday that the accident happened around 8pm.

He identified the deceased as 19-year-old Limpeng Chambai from Rumah Ansi at Sungai Rian, Sarikei.

Based on what the others involved in the accident said, Limpeng, who was travelling from Sarikei to Sibu was trying to overtake a Kancil car.

He had to abort his attempt, however, after being frustrated by an on-coming car.

Unfortunately, he could not find the space to get back into his lane and rammed into the rear of the Kancil causing him to fall onto the opposite lane.

Kisam said, as the biker fell, an on-coming Toyota Corolla ran over him.

He believed that was what killed the victim on the spot.

Although they have got some information, the police urged others who witnessed the accident to assist them with their investigation into the case, Kisam added.
