Teenagers nabbed for bike stunt at airport

KUCHING: Two teenagers were arrested for doing a stunt on their bike in front of Kuching International Airport arrival hall yesterday.

The incident happened around 1.30am when the two 18-year-olds showed up in front of the arrival hall on their modified bike and performed a wheelie in front of a crowd of onlookers.

Unknown to the stuntmen, General Operations Force (GOF) personnel stationed at the airport had set up a roadblock near the arrival hall.

Their presence caused the teens to panic. They tried to evade the roadblock but ended up losing control of their bike and crashing into a parked Proton Perdana belonging to Malaysia Airports Berhad. One GOF personnel was slightly hurt when he was knocked to the ground by the duo in their attempt to escape.

According to a personnel, the teens had been showing up at the airport on an almost nightly basis. They would loudly rev up their bike and perform daredevil stunts in front of the public before fleeing the scene.

Anticipating the duo would make an appearance again yesterday, police set up a roadblock in the hope of putting an end to the nuisance.

The teens, who work as a dish washer and a cleaner at a nearby hotel, were brought to Simpang Tiga police station for questioning and the bike impounded for investigation.
