Elizabeth Wong’s ex-boyfriend believed to be in hiding in Indonesia: KL police chief
KUALA LUMPUR: The police have denied reports in several local dailies that two suspects were detained in connection with distributing nude photo-graphs of Selangor Exco and Bukit Lanjan assembly-woman Elizabeth Wong.
Dismissing the reports, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Wira Mohammad Sabtu Osman said no arrests were made in connection with the incident.
“At 8.30pm yesterday (Thursday), the police only recorded statements of two Malay Mail reporters at the Petaling Jaya police headquarters.
“We are now trying to track down Wong’s ex-boyfriend who may be able to shed light into the case, but is believed to be in hiding in Indonesia.
“We urge him to come forward. If he refuses to cooperate, we may have to find him with the help of Interpol,” he said.
It is believed that the ex-boyfriend, known as Hilmi, did not leave the country via the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Instead, he had boarded a ship from Kukup in Pontian, Johor while Wong left the country on Thursday through KLIA.
On the ongoing investigations, the police chief said Wong’s photographs were recorded by someone known to her, adding that the police were trying to determine if it was done to sabotage her.
He appealed to the media to refrain from speculating as it would only hamper investigations.
“To be fair to those involved, we ask the media to avoid speculation as it may complicate matters, especially without verifica-tion from us,” he said.
Wong was in the centre of a controversy when her nude photographs were posted in the Internet, prompting her to resign from her two posts.
