Kuching second best in 15th National Championship

KUCHING: Kuching Division Association of International Tang Soo Do successfully hosted the 15th National Championship at Kenyalang Park Community Hall here from December 20-21.

A press release yesterday said teams involved in the championship included Melaka, Selangor, Perak, Kelantan and Brunei, besides hosts Sarawak.

Participants from Kuching and Miri were among more than 120 who competed in the various forms of the art.

Guided by chief instructor Thomas Liew and chief coach Hasbi Hamdan, and assisted by Juwen Kunil, Kuching were the second overall winners. In first place was Perak while third was Selangor.  A total of 16 participants from Kuching took part in the event and they secured seven gold, nine silver and 10 bronze medals.

The championship was declared open by Federation of Malaysia Tang Soo Do president Charles Chiam while Datuk Stephen Wan Ullok gave away the medals and closed the championship on December 21.

The championship is expected to take place in Perak next year.
