Sabah MCA Youth chief to work with counterparts
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah MCA youth chief Wilfred Yong, who was elected one of the four vice-presidents of the party’s central youth movement, has pledged to work together with his counterparts in Peninsular Malaysia for the good of the party and its members.
Yong who polled 1,401 votes in the youth movement election last week also assured MCA Sabah members that he will bring the voice of the people in Sabah to the central leadership.
His victory, Yong said, was attributed to the support and cooperation from both the Sabah MCA and its youth movement members.
“I will use this opportunity to strengthen existing ties between the state and central leadership,” he said, adding that being voted vice-chief shows that Sabah MCA Youth’s contribution had received the recognition and support from its counterparts in Peninsular Malaysia.
Yong is the second Sabahan to hold a vice-chief post in the central leadership.
Former Sabah MCA youth chief Chew Kok previously held the same post.
Yong, a local born Sabahan, aged 35, is married with two children.
He is a professional lawyer who is educated in United Kingdom and Australia.
