SANDAKAN: The Sabah government, through its subsidiary Koperasi Serbaguna Sanya Berhad (Kosan), will build a factory in the district with a production capacity 400,000 school uniforms a year.

Youth and Sports Minister, who is Kosan chairman, Datuk Peter Pang En Yin said chief minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman had agreed that the factory be set up in the district.

“We are identifying a suitable location. When completed, the factory will provide 120 jobs,” he said after handing over school uniforms and shoes to SK Bandar 2 pupils, here yesterday.

Pang said the factory’s location in the east coast of Sabah was suitable as it would cater to more than 100,000 pupils in the area.

He said at the moment, centralised delivery was done from Kota Kinabalu and this had caused problems in the delivery of school uniforms and shoes to areas located far from the state capital, including the east coast of Sabah.
