KUCHING: A 21-year-old man was sentenced to seven months’ jail for retaining a stolen Modenas Kriss motorcycle.

The offender Abang Kamal Abang Mosidi from Kampung Hulu of Sebuyau pleaded guilty before Senior Assistant Registrar Nelson W Angang yesterday.

Kamal admitted to a charge framed under Section 411 of the Penal Code.

The sentence provided was a jail term of up to five years with a fine.

He committed the offence at 12.20am on Sept 26 in the vicinity of a timber factory along Jalan Semangat in Bintawa.

The charge said he had dishonestly received the motor vehicle at that time and place, knowing or having reason to believe it to be stolen.

According to the facts of the case, a complainant from Kampung Gandis Lama in Siniawan informed the police around 2pm on Sept 19 that his motorcycle was missing.

He had parked it at the parking lot of a bank next to another bank along Jalan Padungan.

On Friday, a man (Kamal) was arrested in the vicinity of the said timber factory with the stolen motorcycle that was seized as exhibit.

Chief Inspector Nona Athan prosecuted.
