Artful frames to camouflage flatscreen TVs at Picasso
KUCHING: Picasso Framing House is offering artful frames to help camouflage huge LCD or plasma panel televisions to enhance a room’s décor.
“There are likely to be ever more LCD and plasma screens in need of frames. Sales of flat-panel televisions are growing as they replace traditional tube-based sets,” said Picasso Framing House professional frame-maker Roger Chai.
As every flatscreen television is designed differently, the television frame is a highly custom job.
Frame choices are relatively limitless including gilded replicas of classic designs, which may fool viewers into thinking they are seeing not a powered-down LCD but a smoky grey antique mirror, or even a piece of contemporary art.
Chai said he has spent a lot time studying the art of frame-making, which he first learnt about when surfing the Internet.
“After a few months of studying this art, I am now able to master the skills of making LCD and plasma televisions frames,” he said.
He added that people spend a lot of time decorating their homes and the television can often disrupt the feel of a home.
According to him, using a frame will do away with some of this disruption as TV frames merge technology with art.
“Even art gallery picture frame-makers are joining in the trend, coming up with over hundreds of fabulous designs for plasma TV frames so you can dress up your fancy plasma TV and mount it in your living room wall like a piece of art.”
