Teenager released on good behaviour bond
KUCHING: A 17-year-old teenager, who committed criminal intimidation against his stepfather, was released on good behaviour bond for three years, on Tuesday afternoon.
The magistrates’ court also imposed a RM5,000 bail to go with the bond with both his parents as sureties. Additionally, the young offender, from Kampung Tupong Tengah in Petra Jaya, was ordered to report to any police station once a month.
He pleaded guilty to the charge when it was presented to him that morning. However, the court could only pass sentence after hearing the probation report in the afternoon.
He admitted pointing two knives (45cm and 26.5cm long) at a 42-year-old complainant who is his stepfather at their house at 11.30pm on June 21. He also threatened to kill his stepfather, an offence framed under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to seven years and a possibility of a fine.
According to the facts of case, the offender was drunk when he came home that evening.
When the complainant opened the door, the offender came in and stepped on the mattress where he, his wife and their child, were sleeping on in the living room.
When told off by his stepfather, the teenager became angry and went to the kitchen and came back holding two knives.
A war of words ensued, which woke the (complainant’s) wife, who pleaded with her son to surrender the knives. It was also at this time that the offender uttered his threatens.
Probationary Inspector Ahmad Ilias prosecuted.
