Arif Shah promises to resolve infrastructure problem
BUKIT MERTAJAM: Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah yesterday promised to resolve lack of infrastructure which could cause floods if he is elected to the Permatang Pauh seat in the by-election on Aug 26.
The Seberang Jaya State Assemblyman said the problem could be solved quickly as he could bring the matter to the attention of parliament.
“Dewan Rakyat is not like the Penang State Assembly as the state government will take sometime to do it as money is tight,” he told reporters after visiting flash flood victims at Kampung Per-matang Rawa and Taman Siakap here.
Arif Shah said former Permatang Pauh MP Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail who held the seat since 1999 was not concerned with the people’s problems but was more occupied with politics.
“As the MP for nearly ten years, she is expected to tackle problems faced by the people like floods. Now as the opposition leader, she has no time to think of problems plaguing the people of Permatang Pauh,” he said.
Arif Shah said it was time for Permatang Pauh people to elect a responsible representative who could see to their needs and not somebody popular like the PKR adviser.
“PKR had campaigned who is Arif Shah compared to their candidate. Many people in Indonesia know who is Anwar Ibrahim but not Arif Shah.
“The people of Permatang Pauh do not need a world figure, just somebody who will be around to help them,” he said. — Bernama
