Spotting talents for national championship

MOTOR RACING

KUCHING: The Cub Prix on July 26 to 27 will scout for talents to represent the state in the national championship next month.

Sarawak Automotive Racing Sports Association secretary Lucas Tan said the event at three venues — Kuching, Miri and Mukah – hoped to unearth promising riders for the national level competition on August 9 and 10.

“The association and the Social Development and Urbanisation Ministry are always on the lookout for new talents to represent the state in this championship,” he said when receiving sponsorships for the competition from Lea Sports Centre here.

The sponsorships were for T-shirts, grid girls T-shirts with skirts, caps and umbrellas.

Tan believed talent-scouting was an integral part of the effort to produce motorsport champions.

There will be three categories — novice, expert and EPG — and to date, 68 entries have been received.

Also present at the hand-over were Lea Sports Centre operations manager Olga Reggie, event coordinator Mika Semali and retail manager Melati Melebeh together with association committee members Abdul Rahman and Larry Lim.
