FAM to cut annual grants to pay players’ salary arrears

KUALA LUMPUR: The FA of Malaysia will cut the annual grants of state FAs which have failed to settle arrears in their players’ salaries, said FAM secretary-general Datuk Azzuddin Ahmad.

“FAM is yet to pay 50 per cent of the annual grant to the state FAs. The money can be used to offset the salary arrears,” he said when contacted here yesterday.

Presently, teams competing in the Super League receive RM250,000 annually while those in the Premier League get RM150,000.

The Police and the Armed Forces teams, being associate members, receive RM100,000 each.

Cases whereby players have not been paid exceeding four months have come to the attention of the FAM.

The balance in the annual grant is due to be paid at the end of this month.
