PEACE in the environment is essential. There are many laws these days with established norms of behaviour.

Laws restrain people from throwing rubbish where they like or making noise especially in the small hours of the morning.

In the same way, the laws of protection against rape, theft and assault are also designed to keep peace in the community. If we observe these laws, then we contribute to the environment of peace.

Global peace starts with me. When I am peaceful, I can share that peace with others. When my attitude towards all living beings is peaceful, that is, when I have no intention of taking advantage or exploiting others, then I am creating peace.

Learning to turn my thoughts away from all my responsibilities at the day’s end and take my mind into a state of peace and benevolence enables me to carry greater loads without feeling burdened.

Tolerance is also essential in creating peace. Understanding our own belief systems and feeling safe within these, means that we are not threatened by the belief systems of others, and therefore, there will be no need to create conflict.

Through tolerating the ideas of other people, by seeing the value of different perspectives, we will be able to work in harmony with them.

We have the maturity to let go of expectations, bounce back and comply with change.
