KUCHING: The 2nd Pan Borneo Senior Amateur Golf Championship at Kelab Golf Sarawak on July 19 and 20 has been given a big sponsorship shot in the arm.

Social Development and Urbanisation Ministry yesterday gave RM10,000 to the event and on hand to receive the sponsorship from its minister Dato Sri William Mawan Ikom was a delegation comprising organising chairman Ting Kuok Ing, Senior Golfers Society of Sarawak chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr Wong Soon Kai and committee members.

One hundred and twenty-eight senior golfers — 42 from Brunei, 32 from Sabah and 54 from host Sarawak – will be taking part in the two-day event.

There will be a section for invited guests on July 20 and Head of State Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Muhammad Salahuddin will be among the VIPs teeing off.

Registrations are on July 18 from 9am to 4pm, to be followed by a welcoming dinner at KGS’ Chinese Restaurant.

The championship is an annual event, hosted by Senior Golfers Society of Brunei, Sabah and Sarawak.

The first edition was held in Brunei last year.
