MIRI: Four former Mr Sarawak are among 32 participants in the Mr Sarawak 2008 contest to be held at Imperial Hotel Miri on July 12.

Miri Bodybuilding and Weightlifting Association (PABBB) chairman Julian Jolly revealed that they were Saiful Bahri Morshidi and George Polo from Miri, and Mohd Helmi Zulkifli and George Awie from Kuching.

“About 200 tickets have already been sold … but the public still have the opportunity to catch the contestants as tickets at RM15 will be sold at the venue’s counter,” Julian said at a press conference yesterday.

Among the categories are junior, master, flyweight, bantamweight, light middleweight, middleweight and light heavyweight.

Julian said the champion from each category will represent Sarawak in the Mr Malaysia 2008 to be held at Port Dickson from July 25 to 28.

He said the selection of representatives would not only be based on their being champion in their category but discipline and commitment in training.

“I wish to stress that participants must be drug-free as musclemen found doping will be blacklisted,” he warned.

Sideshows to be presented at the Mr Sarawak 2008 are a shuffle dance, Thai martial arts and karate.
